Brandon McShaffrey is a Philadelphia based Director/Choreographer. He is one of the founding members of Mauckingbird Theatre Company which is a Philadelphia based theatre company committed to producing professional gay-themed theatre, while also exploring classic literature and musical genres. At Mauckingbird he serves as Producing Director, and has produced their productions of {title of show}, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Tru, Never the Sinner, Hedda Gabler, Shakespeare's R & J, and their premier production of The Misanthrope.

At Mauckingbird he directed the world premier of The Threshing Floor, a one man tour-de-force based on the life of James Baldwin, written and starring James Ijames.
He is finishing up his MFA in Directing at Temple University, where he directed Shakespeare's Richard III this past fall. At Temple he choreographed Sweeney Todd, Shot!, Rent, Ragtime and Into the Woods. Assisted Douglas C. Wager on the world premier production of Shot!, which later transferred to the Kennedy Center as part of KCACTF. Served as movement director and developed que[e]ry with director Peter Reynolds, which was a project developed with a provost seed grant exploring LGBT and queer culture. Directed a workshop of Robert Smythe's play Antigone, Texas, which he also directed a reading of at Theater Exile. |
He directed Mauckingbird's Miss-cast, Miss-cast 2, and Miss-cast 3D a cabaret of songs sung with a gender twist, hosted by Jennie Eisenhower. At Temple, he taught the Musical Theater capstone course in Cabaret performance, and directed cabaret revues with composer Katya Stanislavskaya, Sing Out Loud, I'm Ready for You, and An Evening of Songs by Katya Stanislavskaya.

At Maples Repertory Theatre, he directed and choreographed Little Shop of Horrors, High School Musical, I Do! I Do!, and Sweet Charity as well as directed The Foreigner, Run for Your Wife, Murder by the Book, Sorry! Wrong Chimney!, and Dames at Sea. As well as directing their annual company Cabaret. Other credits The Rocky Horror Show at Drexel University, and Movement Director of Metamorphoses at Villanova University. He directed and choreographed productions of Musical Comedy Murders of 1940, A Little Princess, and Charlotte's Web at Hedgerow Theatre in Media, PA.
